Themes & Series

In our themes and series events, we always commemorate the anniversaries of famous composers’ births and deaths, but also showcase a contemporary composer. This year, the Finn Kaija Saariaho has been chosen to represent the 21^st century on the concert programme, while Schumann, Chopin and Mahler are the trio of birthdates we are commemorating. »Wanderlust« is another major focus, a theme offering music from all over the world, aural delights from the past to the present. And in our opera category, we are staging a further mixture of the traditional and the modern in the shape of a Peking opera by the German composer Karsten Gundermann.
